Itasca State Park

Here are a few pictures of our weekend camping in Itasca State Park. It was a beautiful weekend for camping. Our luck this summer while camping has been low temps, high winds and rain. But, this weekend was warm & sunny! Being it our last weekend camping this year, I realized I didn't like that we didn't get out as much as last summer, so we're already planning several trips for next summer!
Saturday morning Jacob, Kaylee & Dad road their bikes to the Mississippi Headwaters (about 2 miles or more from our campsite). Then, in the afternoon, Jacob & Mom road our bikes there, while Dad took the girls in the truck. It had been a long hard bikeride for Kaylee, and Becca isn't confident enough on her bike yet to go that far or with that many hills. Each picture I took of them at the headwaters they had their backs to me or their faces down, so this is what ya get.
Becca LOVED walking on all the rocks. Even after she fell in twice she kept going across them.
We rented a pontoon for an hour on Sunday afternoon. There was a nice cooling breeze off the lake, and it was very beautiful out there. The scenery is gorgeous, we even crept up to a loon. Next time we may rent canoes - umm, may...
