4th of July

4th of July weekend we spent camping in Duluth.
We had a very good spot at a nice campground. Jacob spent much of the weekend chopping wood. I think we could have rented him out to other campers after he chopped our entire bucket into toothpicks. The campground with walking trails was right along the St Louis river.
Becca read a story to Mom!! What is she going to learn in Kindergarten??
Our campground was close to the Willard Mungar trail. We biked down the path about 1/2 mile.
The kids had seen the lift bridge before, and went over it in a car, but had never been up close. We were there when it went up and came back down. They were excited when it came down nearly on their heads! Then, we walked over it and that was exciting too :-) We didn't see any big ships come in, but many sailboats.
We also walked around UMD a bit.

Then, we watched the fireworks by the bay. They were VERY good fireworks. The best I have ever seen.
