The house is (almost) done!

Pictures with a grain of salt. The before pictures were taken in the early spring on a cloudy day. The after pictures were taken in the early fall on a frosty sunny morning. So, there are differences in that. But I think the after still looks better than the before 3 1/2 years ago.

Back of the house after shingles and paint job this summer, and deck steps in 2006. No, the deck isn't done. We haven't quite figured out how to get the new wood stained in a color we like, but still have the grain show through. I'm pushing for it to be done before the snow falls! So, I'm going to try out the stain on a sample board today to see how it looks. It's supposed to be the same color as the base of the deck (dark gray), but semi-transparent. It looks a little too blue (maybe cuz my eyes are blue - is that why everything looks blue to me? Maybe I should put on some colored glasses to change the effect!).

The other part not done is some trim around the new garage window. That was rotting apart, so we replaced it. Pat needs to decide on and find a bottom trim piece and then we'll get that painted and complete. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you to Carrie, Micah and Allan for helping us paint! It wouldn't be done now without your help (especially in the tallest parts).
